This is his new laugh...not sure where he learned it. (I'm on the phone in the background...not talking to myself. Ha!)

THANK YOU HEIDI-HO! YOU BROUGHT SPRING TO ME!

I've had spring fever like crazy and my sis Heidi had the perfect remedy--a beautiful box of spring sent just for me.  I love you Heidi. Thanks for all the bright, sweet gifts.  Homemade soap, sugar free sweets, place mats, notebook/pen, stickers, homemade lemon bars, balloons...and more! It was love in a box. It made made my day! (I had just returned home from swimming so my hair is a lovely matted mess)

Weekend

Cannon was gone most of last week so when he did get home, Caleb sidled up next to him, dug his hands into his overalls and cuddled while watching Bolt.  Cannon was pretty checked into the movie. They really liked it. Caleb and I have been fighting colds all week, thus the box of tissues under Cannon's arm.
We have been babysitting Paisley a couple times a week and Caleb is a good little friend to her. He likes to help her swing and pats her gently on the head.
I sort of got a new do...well, bangs, anyway. Going for the old Hollywood glamour/indie punk look. Who knew a new set of bangs could be so fun?!
Loving the bubbles. Daddy is talented at blowing lots of bubbles. Mama just drips soap all over the floor...
Attacking mac n' cheese.

What?...Are you telling me your man doesn't paint his face with Robin Eggs? He reveals his inner rock star just once a year. I wouldn't miss it for the world. I wish I could have captured him playing air guitar.

This video is for Grammie Mellie and Aunt Lolly! He (we) LOVED your get well package.

My friend Jodi brought these by and they made my day. Aren't they gorgeous!?  I love Stargazer Lillies!  She is a thoughtful friend.

Lately

We got the popcorn ceiling off, painted the walls a beautiful blue, got some sheer curtains up, replaced the light fixture and added the molding. We still need to sand down the wood filler on the molding and do some touch up painting. It is so fun to wake up and look up at our ceiling/walls!

I made Dove Chocolate Dream Bars (thanks to Dianne's post on The Magic Recipe Box). They were really crumbly but I attribute that to the dry brown sugar. BTW, an apple slice DOES soften brown sugar right up!  I wish I would have tried the apple trick before making these bars.
Caleb was helping me read a book the other day.

We took Caleb to the ER for a Fibral seizure and after a very long day, he just wanted to wear his Lightning McQueen pajamas and read "Cars".  Apparently these seizures are quite common in young children (5 and under).  Usually they grow out of it...or they don't. Time will tell. The most important thing is that the seizure doesn't cause damage or hurt Caleb in any way. It makes him exhausted and it makes me want to scream with terror when I witness it, but it's not harmful.

It is a lovely Saturday, meaning that the sun is shining, the dirty snow is receding and it's above 30 degrees.  It actually got to 50 degrees yesterday and folks were in tank tops, windows were down, kids were on bikes and skateboards, people were washing their cars... I think we'll go for a jog today and take in our Alaskan spring day.

Easter.

Most of our Easter Sunday was spent sharing a ham dinner with a new couple from church.  The ham was very delicious. I whipped up some awesome the horseradish mashed potatoes and Cannon made some deviled eggs. We even had some fresh kiwi and apples to round out the meal. It was an Easter Feaster, a lovely day!
Caleb found the Easter bucket (a basket seemed sissy) and went for the "Cars" pinwheel.  Maybe a pinwheel is sissier than a basket...so I guess it's a wash...
A rare moment of almost-sitting-stillidness on mama's lap!
Searching for those darn Easter eggs...
Daddy had shown him where one of the eggs was hidden!
Like father, like son.  We took a quick pic before the ties flew off and the naps were taken...

Caleb laughs and smiles and squeals with glee all the time but I've had a hard time getting him to smile at my command when I've got ye olde camera. More often than not, he's laughing and giggling and then the camera comes out. Suddenly his curiosity with the accompanying studious face takes over and the giggles and laughter are no longer happening.  This particular situation we kept saying "Daddy" to which he'd yell "Dah-ee", do the sign for "daddy" and laugh.  I was able to catch a little of it on video and in pics. (The video won't post)

Also, my friends and I were talking about potty training--their strategies, the ages they start training, etc.  That same day, Caleb dumped Cheerios all over his pants and then went into the bathroom. I found him straddling the toilet in a hurdle pose.  As I walked in he said "pay-pee". So we'll be getting his potty training done this week I think. He's obviously ready.
And I made some awesome chicken tortilla soup and corn bread.  I was craving Z Tejas and this hit the spot.

Unless you live in Alaska, you are not allowed to complain about how Spring isn't coming fast enough! I love hearing how hot it is in Phoenix and I almost miss living there. Almost.
Guess who has slept in his big kid bed for 2 nights in a row? He has slept through the night too. And we are not the ones who unzipped his pj's. He likes the 70's look...

Typical Morning

All of the sudden he's 2 and he throws himself on the floor when he doesn't get his way...I don't get it.

Bubbles, Bread and Bear Cub Behavior

We are baking Honey Whole Wheat bread, blowing bubbles and catching Caleb pawing through food.  He found his way to the table, into the tiny box with Hershey's Kisses and I'm not kidding, within seconds he had eaten 5 kisses.  We're talking unwrapped, chewed an swallowed in under 60 seconds.
