We hope you all had a great Independence Day! Cannon was blasting Beach Boys, "Born in the USA" and Neil Diamond's "America" (one of my dad's all time favorites) all morning while we got ready for a little road trip. We went to Whittier with a bunch of friends and had a great time eating fresh halibut fish n' chips, exploring the docks and admiring all the boats, coloring on the sidewalk, and enjoying fudge. We left sunny Anchorage and 1 hour and 1 tunnel later, we were in chilly, cloudy, rainy Whittier. It was gorgeous, though. We enjoyed every minute with our friends and after returning home, we had moose burgers (which Caleb finally ate for the first time) and potato salad, out on our deck. I made some strawberry short cake and we finished the 4th watching "Independence Day" with friends. It doesn't get dark at midnight so fireworks aren't really a big deal here. It was a good day and we are truly blessed to live in America.

Love every bit of it!
We truly live in a great country of contrasts. While you guys are bundling up to brave the cold in Whittier, we're peeling off our layers to brave the heat in AZ! We wrote notes to grandpa last night and released them in red, white, and blue baloons into the wild blue yonder last night. He was my north star, so should you happen into a wandering balloon up there in Alaksa, be sure to pop it cuz you just might find a love note!! Hugs, Grammy Mel PS: Who is turning 35 tomorrow??
so fuuuuuuuuuuuun!!! you go on the coolest adventures!!!
Hey! Long time no hear. Great to catch up on your blog. I did start a new one...let me know if you need an invite. Your kids are still cute as ever. So fun to see them growing. Due next month...finally. This has been the most eternal pregnancy. I won't bore you with the details, but holy cow. If my first pregnancy was this difficult we never would have made it to three kids! We miss you guys.
